If it is required to rebuild the vSEC:CMS from a backup database file then follow the instructions in this section on how to perform a system recovery.
Step 1 - Install the vSEC:CMS
1. On a clean server run the vSEC:CMS installer and follow the simple installation wizard instructions. It is important that the server does not have a previous version of the vSEC:CMS installed on it. Make sure to uninstall and remove all folders if a previous version of the vSEC:CMS was installed on the server.
Step 2 - Perform the Recovery
1. Logon to the vSEC:CMS from the short cut icon on the desktop with an operator smart card that has a System Administrator role and that was already issued to the vSEC:CMS that is being recovered. The operator will be presented with a restore dialog.
2. Click the Browse button and select the backup database file. Enter the operator token passcode (PIN) and enter the backup passcode for the backup database file and click Ok to perform the recovery.
3. The vSEC:CMS will now start up as normal with all settings and configurations as were set on the system at the time when the backup database file was backed up. If the vSEC:CMS service was running under a dedicated/specific Windows user account make sure to change the permissions for the dat folder to allow full control on this folder for this user. If the vSEC:CMS was installed to the default location on a 64 bit server then the dat folder will be located here - C:\Program Files (x86)\Versasec\vSEC_CMS vSEC:CMS\dat.
